13 ghosts

I dont understand why this got such a bad review.

Went to see it last night, there were only about 5 other people in the cinima. Ok, it wasnt 'amazing' and it didnt exactly make me feel scared (although made me jump a bit) i dont think it deserved reviews such as 1/10.

The set was amazing, they must have spent a large proportion of their budget on that. There were some good comic moments and the sound was superb. Although i would not rate it as a favourite film, i feel it was better than what the critics said it was like.

Anyone else seen it?

I've not seen it yet either, but I've been advised to give it a wide berth. Apparantly it's supposed to be similar(ish) to "The House On Haunted Hill" which I thought was absolutely dreadful. So I think I'll wait till it hits Sky.
:-)

imho hohh is ok the only bit that freaked me out and can i ad i was drunk at the time was the part where the ghost comes out of the vat of blood and tries to kill the girl but apart from that it was not scary

I saw it in the US last October when it was just released.

What a load of flashy over-directed rubbish. It's obviously the same people who did that other flashy over-directed rubbish HOHH and suffers from the same mistakes: lack of scares, overbearing special effects, ridiculous story.

Great house though.

Richard.

I have to agree, the house was a fantastic bit of design, the scares were thin on the ground...

Always a bad sign when the audience chortles through a horror film. Especially at the Ghost designs, They were going for a variety of looks here, from the plain monster look through to a more subtle macabre and unsettling imagery, looked good, but it didn't work for me at all on a horror level.

Direction was a little slack, there was no time spent building the tension instead resorting to the usual stock set pieces of the "jump out from behind something" or "chase someone down a corridor". As for the quality of the dialogue.... makes George Lucas look like Oscar Wilde. (Don't get me wrong I love George, but he has no concept of how people converse).

The Director (Steve Beck) was an effects art director. That's possibly why this film has some engaging visuals but the characters are as flat as pancakes.

a piece of advise.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS FILM. IT STINKS!!

the ghosts are not scary, the plot is dreadful. special effects are not all that.

overall a waste of money and time.

hmmm i quite like 13 ghosts. The house was coolio the ghost's and there stories where ok. I don't really see the problem, it did nothing more and nothing less than i had expected from it... it may have shown sign's of being ropie from time to time but so what.

And HOHH - does everyone remember the rollercoaster at the beginging? Well i am almost certain that this is the HULK coster at Universal - must do ride people very cool!

Oh and does anyone else see the similarity in HOHH and Silent Hill (computer game)??? Or is that just me!?
