It is a good thing when a son bonds with his mother. It seems he has learned how to respect women which is very important. I would be more worried if he disrespected his mom, which that would mean he had no respect for women. It seems you have done a very good job raising him, so keep up the good work. And by the way, it wouldn't hurt to talk to him about the gay issue, just to see where his thought are.
