12 Monkeys

It was the first time I saw it last night and I thought it was great :D Loved the bit when she was talking about the people throughout time who warned of the disease in 1996. Reminded me of nostradamus and rasputin etc

Exactly like you,I thought it was okay the first time I saw it.The second time I saw it,paying more attention,I picked up on a lot of things I had missed first time round and enjoyed it a lot more..The third time, which was not long after the second,it just blew me away.Absolutely loved it!

It is a film that demanRAB total attention and at least a couple of viewings to take it all in.It leaves as many questions as it does answers, but it's good to see a film that makes you think.

A cerebral sci-fi masterpice.

I saw it at the cinema when it first came out, and loved it, especially the ending and the way it played with the nature of delusion and reality. Probably Bruce Willis' best bit of acting.

Not prevent the catastrophe but cure the disease in the future. I didn't get that at all watching it, but only from Gilliam's commentary on the DVD.

Nobody's mention La Jetee yet, which is the short stills film it's based on. Interesting to watch if you ever have a chance.

I watched that a good few years back after watching Twelve Monkeys and enjoyed it. Like most other posters here I enjoyed Twelve Monkeys immensely and also got the feeling that Bruce Willis's character is locked in a time loop that means he is destined to repeat the same actions no matter how many times he travels back in time........it's a bleak ending but not one that makes me wish they had done it differently. The film looks wonderful too which is something that you always get with Terry Gilliam imo. As for Brad Pitt, I think it's a great performance and was surprised at his Oscar nomination as I didn't think the film was the kind that the Academy would lean towarRAB.

Definitely in my top ten films of all time. I love the scenes where animals and nature have started taking back the city. And I love that the ending is far from clear. It will be argued over forever (even if Gilliam has given his opinion on the DVD commentary).

I watched it for the third time when it was on yesterday and I finally got it. The first time I saw it I don't think I was paying much attention, the second time there were bits and pieces that I must have missed because finally on third viewing everything fell into place.

I love Terry Gilliam's visual style and this is one of his best (alongside the wonderful Brazil.)

The ending is pretty clear cut, she's getting a sample of the virus to cure it in the future.

It's stated throughout the entire film that you can't change the future. That isn't just an opinion it's coda!
