12 Inch 4 Ohm DVC Sub?

So my amp runs 380w rms at 4 ohms and 500w rms at 2 ohms. My Subs impedance and rms straight from the website is:

Impedance (OHMS): 2 or 4 DVC
WATTS PEAK/RMS: 800/400

I want to run it at 4 ohms so the sub doesnt get too much power running to it. If I plug it in and tune the sub until its gets loud enough that its just not distorted does this mean im running the sub at 500w? How do I tune it to make sure its running at 380 or 400w?

you need to find out what you have 2 or 4 ohm and dvc means dual vooice coil so its dual 2ohm 2 2 or dual 4ohm 4 4 if its dual 2ohm just run pos on one coil to neg on the other coil then hook your other pos and neg to the amp this will give you a 4ohm load but if you have a dual 4ohm then you need to hook up both pos together and both negs together and that will give you a 2ohm load (theres no way to get a 4 ohm load by a single sub with 4ohm dvc) sorry
