Every one says its soposed to be dooms day...
Could there be a miscount?
People are saying to me "They are accurate" Because of Hurricane Katrina, but, how could they know? Are they some kind of freak show? And what happened to the Mayans? I mean they just...disappeared, but where to? And why does everyone just jump to conclusions, oh its just non Since. Why can't it be real? All I want to know is that maybe, just maybe everyone is just very retarded jumping to answers, that its dooms day. I mean... the end of the Mayan calendar for us, may mean a power outage, or a small rock, or maybe dooms day. Can anyone think that maybe the end of the Mayan calendar might be a GOOD thing? Not dooms day.
 
It's not so much a question of "did we count it correctly?" as it is a question of "why do people believe in such idiotic garbage?".

It is utterly absurd and doesn't have a shred of evidence to back it up.

There aren't any real scientists who believe in this; if they don't know, how would anyone else? BTW the Maya calendar isn't ending, it's just starting a new 'long count'. There is no more end to their calendar than there is to ours. Not that it would make a difference anyway.

It's just the usual bunch of cranks proclaiming "the end of the world is nigh!", and denouncing their critics as "naysayers" instead of producing evidence.

When there is proof of something going to happen that will cause the end, then some body say so.

Are you everyone? or you're a unique person? If EVERYONE tells you to jump from the window will you jump? I don't think so...you'll first try and understand why you should jump, based on what etc...same thing here.

There are many people living today that have Mayan descent. Mayan culture survived, despite the attempts of the Catholic Church to wipe it out completely. They Mayans did not "just disappear."

Who is accurate?

I was going to ask what Hurricane Katrina has to do with the end of the world. Jefferson Parish has recovered very well, thank you, and Orleans is still recovering, Greater New Orleans and south-east LA and all the areas that had flooding from Katrina's storm surges are still there. They also experienced storm surges from Rita, Gustav, and Ike. In one sense the world did end when the flooding happened, but the world survived. I'm probably not the only person whose life has become "before K" and "after K", and I wasn't even in New Orleans duiring Katrina or the flooding afterwards.

they aren't high on my list of reliable sources.

The last day of 2012 Doom day follower have said that the Mayans were probably off by a thousand year, so we will probably have to wait until 3012.
