1198 or 848?

I've been riding a cruiser for the past 3 years and wanting to get a sport bike. I have had sport bike in the past (Honda Hurricane 600 and a Suzuki GSXR 750). I have 2 friends with 848s. One is very satisfied and the other wish he had gotten the 1198. Now I'm in the middle and undecided between the two. Can anyone share their opinion on the two bikes?

Both are great bikes!! It depends on the kind of riding you want to do. If you want to have the biggest, baddest, fastest track weapon out there then go for the 1198. If you do alot of street riding then the 848 might be for you. Now don't get me wrong, the 848 is plenty fast!! More than most can handle, the 1198 is just stupid fast!!! They both give you an amazing ride and they look like twin supermodels. It just comes down to what you want out of a bike.

MOST people will never be able to fully ride and find the limits of an 848 on the street.

If you're a track day rider the 848 is still a great bike.

Do you like the sound of the open Dry clutch? LOL. Some people think it sounds like the bike is broken...I like it....if you do then the 1198/1198s are the the only choices...just a thought, hope it helps.........

Personally, I think the 848 is a better track bike as you can gas it without worrying about worrying as much as you would a 1198.

The 1198 makes a better street bike because of the torque. You don't need to rev it past 6,000rpm to get moving.

If cost isn't an issue, I'd go with the 1198. (Unless you really can't live with the rattle of a dry clutch)
