1198 Engine issues

So I just got my 2009 1198 finished for it's 600 mile service. On the 1.5 hour ride home the engine quit on me three times. This happened once before the service also, so I don't believe it was the shop. Here is the problem. While accelerating, the bike will then cut power quickly then surge forward as if I were running out of gas (but the tank was full). Then it would stall and I would have to coast to the side of the road. Then the next problem would occur. I would start the bike in neutral, and then while clicking into first gear to roll out, the engine would quit. And yes I put the kickstand up. I called the dealer, told him of my issue and tried to step through what happened with him on the phone and of course it started right up and clicked into first gear. I hope somebody out there has had the same issue and conquered it as I am losing confidence in my Ducati, please advise.

Maybe faulty kickstand switch. Some 1098/1198.848 have cutoff problems when coasting down with clutch pulled in. I think that one of the causes of that is that the bikes run very very lean at idle. Some people have reported that the cutoffs go away as the motor gets some more miles on it.

Took it in for repairs. And........................................ both of you were correct. Faulty side stand switch. Things are repaired and bike is running like it's old 1198 self!
