Anybody see the August 2008 Sportrider mag? There's a comparison of the Ducati 1098R vs. the Honda CBR1000 and the CBR1000 wins

The Honda was 1 second faster at Buttonwillow.

Also, there is a comparison of the GSXR750 vs. the Ducati 848 and the GSXR750 wins. The GSXR750 also had a faster laptime at Buttonwillow than the 1098R

Is this just a ridicuously biased opinion, or am I missing something????

Gravity, I heard about the rag from my old Busa board, digital copy for me Locally it hasn't hit the stands yet.

One thing I've learned over the years, take the reviews and test with a grain of salt. Ducati's in general have never done well on tests. Remember that most test riders for rag's own Jap 4's and as such are not used to the Sport Twins. Also, the Ducati, as it is sets the standards in handling, so with that all other bikes are measured, maybe not 100% literally, but damn close. The fit and finish is superior w/o question to any Jap4's. Now, you roll that into a test riders "first impression" and you get some odd results. As well, Ducati's are held to a different standard, even I judged them differently before owning one. The new Fireblade is badass in its own right.

I have sold Hondas for many years and remember WHO pays more towards advertising over the years to the magazines Honda or Ducati. The magazines all mostly lean toward who they can make the most money from.

If they were to piss off Honda, Yamaha or Kawi-Suzuki they would be in trouble as they all spend millions on advertising. Ducati never advertises to the extent the others do nor do they have to.

In 1974-75 a guy wrote in to the now defunct Cycle magazine, editor Phil Schilling and asked what his 750 Honda was worth compared to his buddys Ducati 750 bevel drive well they were honest and said the Honda was worth the price of the subscription to Cycle magazone and the Ducati well we all know what they are worth. I had bought the Ducati 750SS before the article came out and its still true.

I like my Hondas but they are not in the same league as the Ducati R and RR unless Honda decides to sell us mortals a real Pedrosa GP replica. Thats a whole new can of peas!

First off, it's SportRider. From then on I can be pretty much sure everything written after that is shit. Kento rapes dead livestock. Fuck Kento. He's got a huge chip on his shoulder against anything not from his homeland, it's sad. Even when every other mag will compliment Ducati for a great bike he'll still piss about it not being as good as anything Japanese. If you gave Kunto and 250 Honda Rebel and a Desmosedici I'd bet he'd still be "quicker at buttonwillow" with the Honda. I bet he gets off everytime he types Butt on Willow, twisted fuck. Unless you're trying to compare the big four Japanese bikes to each other sport rider is best used to line a birdcage. I don't even have to read this one to see this, I've regretfully bought ShitRaider in hopes of a decent Ducati review enough times to smell Klinko's influence. I stick to Motorcyclist, Cycleworld and Cycle Canada for a more unbiased review. Cycle Canada sometimes leaves me wonder how they keep their advertisers, they've laid some pretty nasty reviews on a few bikes, but it's certainly not guilty of favouritism.

Oh yeah, FUCK KENTO, piece of shit!

About time Ducati got to talk some trash back.

Its funny that a company like Source Interlink Media which owns basically every Motorcycle/Car/Golf....ect...ect magazine there is will publish 3 or 4 magazines on a single subject that controdict each other all in the same months issues. Its about money, not about which bike is actually the best, or raw apples to apples tests. Besides the sportbike world is so close no matter what brand, it all boils down to the rider and personal preferance.

Recent comparo in Australia used the control tires, had the bikes set up the Australian Factory tuners and riders and then let the Journo's loose on them. CBR1000RR came out on top as well.
At recent trackdays it does appear to be extremely potent and easy to use. That said I am not trading any of my Ducati's to join the tuperware torpedo circus

I can't see any way in the world that's the new fire blade is faster then the R. In another mag didn't the R set the worlds fastest lap time by any stock superbike in the world? And yes the world has gotten very bad when a mags sole purpose is to make a decent review on a few bikes and its just all a load of shit. All for money. Pro riders do the same. I guess even tho I'm a rossi fan we should all look at who is winning the races. Those results don't lie. Bayliss and stoner are kicking ass.

If anyone of us pulls up along a newer honda 1000, it's on you to keep up with her. That sucker turns insane after 10k. The bikes are comparable, it's the power band location. I know you guys are aware of this. Just mentioning the obvious.

I own both bikes.
The 1098S and CBR1000RR.....
Both bikes are excellent. The Duc has great low end and tracks very well. The narrow frame makes it easy to hang off. It make great power for a twin. It feels very light with easy transitions.
The CBR has an unbelievable mid and top end rush. It`s smaller and lighter than a 600RR. It`s very smooth and flicks without trying. You think about and it`s there.
They both have strong and weak points, but the CBR will win with shear usable power and efficiency.
It`s by far the most efficient bike to date. Feels like a 600 with big balls..... It`s hard to decide witch bike to ride....

I own two of these motorcycles myself and they are both excellent bikes in their own terms. The CBR is a very light and agile bike...no real effort at all. I love both bikes.
