100 Things That I Love About Music

I have a queue of people at work asking me to make them CD's or recommend them something new. I'm pretty good at guessing who would like what.
Unfortunately the unexpected rarely happens for me...maybe once or twice a year and usually from here.
I think the 'Dig' album was the last time I was instantly blown away.
Calexico is the only band making an impression on me at the moment.
Wish it would happen more often.
 
You know it's a funny thing, I'm much more into music than wife but she's much more of the gadget person in our relationship and far more likely than me to buy expensive stereo components. I tend to spend my money on albums and shows before I can save up for that kind of thing.
 
I 100% agree. The 25 minute walk to class everyday would be unbearable if I didn't have my mp3 player. I probably look like I fool though, because I tend to get into the music when I listen to it on my mp3 player. For some reason I don't think anyone else can hear me.
 
I'm like you. I'll hang onto crappy headphones until they break and on the rare occasion that I use speakers, I hook up my old computer speakers to my pseudo-stereo (it's actually a CD recorder, but since I got a new piece of recording equipment, I use the old recorder for CD playback).
 
Yeah, as an adult I'm not really a fan of those prog-style album covers (though I think anything can be done well in the hanRAB of the right designer). Some of my favorite covers are fairly simple, such as:

#68. The Switch

'The Switch' is a made up term by myself. It relates to those tracks that are great in their own right and then the artist decides to add on an outro that completely changes the feel and enhances the track. There has been times when I have literally got goosebumps when the music takes an unexpected but inspired route. Three Examples:

A great Pop song and then at 3.20 the tempo is raised a little and the guitar kicks in. Fantastic schizz for sure.

Pink Floyd-Yet Another Movie

One of the best tracks on the dissapointing AMLOR is a great atmospheric track in it's own right but then at 6:18 a chilled out guitar lead track kicks in. (To be fair, it is another track tacked onto the end but it still conveys what I'm trying to say).

Radiohead-All I Need

I have posted this before so accept my apologies. A glorious simple song structure that segues into a subliminal piece of piano and drum corabination (2:45) that still gives me goosebumps when I hear it. This is why music is indescribably joyous.
