100 Things That I Love About Music

My brother has seen them live, he said the same thing; tons of energy, and just plain fun to watch. I'm very jealous.
 
The only person outside of my family i am comfortable calling a hero, a huge inspiration to me not only in music but in approach to life and in just being a bloody nice bloke to top it all off. The fact that i only ever caught his show a couple of times is sad, i remeraber them being fucking confusing for a young me but enjoyable, it's sad that i only realised just how much of my music taste i had him to thank for at the time of his death.
His approach to music was 'fuck whatever genre it is and whether the masses will appreciate it, if it's worthy it should have an audience', something i truly appreciate. R.I.P indeed, great inclusion Lee :)
 
Actually, this could just as easily go into the "100 things that piss me off..." thread, for one of the reasons you mentioned; the bad & painful memories. How many songs have been ruined because we associate them with bad times?
 
Hey if people don't dig Floyd I can handle it no problem. What knobs me off is people who have'nt heard their music outside of 'The Wall' and forming an opinion basing it on that and not an entire discography.

If I was getting into Floyd now after the music I have heard in the last 20 years then I would probably class them as boring too TBH. They are just a part of my life and that won't change.
 
#83. The Guitar.

Where would I be without this instrument? Whether it is a discordant riff, skanking on a Ska track, picking on gentle Folk nuraber, being slid upon on a blues track, droning on a shoegaze nuraber or being caressed by David Gilmour. The guitar is probably 80% of my music collection and no matter how much I flit around musically, this instrument whether it's electric or acoustic will always be the bedrock of my musical leanings. May the axe reign supreme.

What better excuse have you got to listen to some banging guitar riff and throw shapes in your living room like you are 14 (unless you are 14 of course)? In no other hobby can you basically mime to your faves. Ever tried air drawing? Or Air acting? What about air driving? nope does'nt hold up. Air guitar wins AND it's acceptable.
 
Very true actually, in a way that's all part of the fun though, in a sadistic sort of way. I do like to go down memory lane everynow and again and relive a bit of heartbreak :D

Yes you can keep your obvious jokes I.E your music is so boring I always fall asleep etc. I am talking about those times that Music is your friend and it soothes and calms. Many times when I was a youngster (circa 1851), I fell asleep to music after a particularly trying day (looking back what the hell was I worried about compared to now?) and even now when I spend the usual bi-monthly night on the sofa, I put some music on to help me fall asleep. It's funny how I invariably use the same music for this too.

I very rarely bestow legendary status on people as fame(or infamy) is a transient beast but Peelie is genuinely worthy of the title. I can honestly say that 30% of his shows were made up of music that I could'nt stand. That did'nt matter one bit. The love of music was there always and I am sure there are many more fans of his among the British contingent here.
 
I can really relate to this. I think it's safe to say that my love of album design was a huge factor in my heading off to art school and growing up to be a graphic designer.

From starting the hugely influential Def Jam recorRAB at the age of 22 whilst still at college to now being Co-head of Colurabia RecorRAB, rubin is one of the very few Producers to actually care about the music, set banRAB on their way and just happen to produce some of the best albums of the last 20 years. All this is all the more remarkable as Rubin has himself admitted, knows nothing technical and just 'has an ear for music'. Sure there are many other great producers out there such as John Leckie but I absolutely love rubin's 'sound' which is clean, precise with fantastic snare sounRAB and less of the fiddly stuff. His range of genres is to be applauded and damnit I want his job. I have an ear :D Here is a small example of his producer talents:
