100 Greatest Stand-Ups 2010 (Next Friday)

Thanks, I will look out for your recommendations. I realise it may appear dated, or of it's time, the political nature of his comedy makes that inevitable. But, as you say, the underlying mesage is probably just as relevant today.
I wasn't too disappointed in the programme, these lists are always good fun. It's always best to ignore the actual positions though, I don't think many people understand the concept of "importance" in comedy..most just vote for who made them laugh recently. Strangely, if you do the same with footballers (for instance) you would get a truer picture of the relative importance of players..at least over the past 50 years. I guess sport is less subjective.

He's massive in Ireland, the public's favourite I would say, tried to crack american a few years ago and failed as far as I know.

Did you see that documentary about Brown a few years ago, he came across as vile, worst then the other two mention.

Before people slag off Mansford I really like him, he's great on twitter aswell.

I know plenty of people hate Patrick Kielty but I think he gets a lot of unfair stick, shouldn't be this high though. He was 99 last time.

The one who intrigues me is John Bishop. A couple of months ago I hadn't heard of him then suddenly he's on every panel show going. On one night he turned up 3 times on different programmes, still without doing any stand up! Have since seen his act twice on tv recently - same material both times. He must have a very busy agent.

Same thing initially with Michael McIntyre - he turned up as a talking head all over the place, always introduced as a stand-up comedian without ever proving the job description. Was pleasantly surprised when I eventually saw his act as wasnt expecting him to be any good but I think he's alright and will probably do well on the new list, especially due to his vast DVD sales.

I've heard Chubby is very apologetic when talking about his show and can be very disarming if you try to question his show.

Such a shame we got to see so little of the amazing Demetri Martin and Mark Thomas :(

Met Mark Thomas on three occasions- one of the loveliest men alive :o

Will they be revealing all the list tonight?

Has Lee Evans been on yet?

I hope Peter Kay or Ricky Gervais aren't number one. :(

Also I hope Russell Howard isn't in the top 50 - he's awful.

Frankie Boyle, Michael McIntyre and Alan Carr are favourties of mine.

MONKHOUSE!!! :p
