100 Greatest Stand-Ups 2010 (Next Friday)

I like both Brand and Jimmy Carr but I feel Jimmy deserves to be higher on the list just due to his intelligent use of words and his timing on jokes is immaculate. My wife despises him and I can see her point, when presenting on TV he is nicely sanitised whilst he really pushes the envelope on what is acceptable doing live gigs. I've heard Jimmy do the most offensive material that I would never forgive Boyle for doing but Jimmy knows his audience and you sense that there is never any malice in his jokes :o
 
Agreed, but somehow he has managed to jump up the list by 19 spaces,so someone appreciates him.He was probably responsible for bringing observational humour to British TV.
 
Chubby Brown doesn't get shown on TV though whilst Jim Davidson still sells out tours and is beloved by those in the Armed Forces.

An ex-girlfriend met him once and describes his attempts to get off with her as being the most horrific experience of her life :eek:
 
Denis Leary at 35 now that is a surprise. Especially as all the same jokes appear again at number 6 "camouflaged with punchlines".

Bump, airing tonight and my money is still on Macintyre being in the Top 10 and Connolly still being the No.1 tonight


Regardless of my own personal opinion of the guy I just think he'll be in the top 10 this time. In my own humble opinion (speaking as someone who is himself a wannabe stand up comic*) in regards to Macintyre yes I do happen think he's funny and think it's only obvious for what I call 'comic snobs' to be-little comics who suddenly find themselves becoming 'mainstream' all of sudden and wanting to point out how unfunny those popular comics are etc. He's a funny guy and certainly the best 'absolute' newbie on the scene but I wouldn't place him high up a 'best ever' list this soon on myself.



*I actually do the Tim Vine/Harry Hill style of humour myself (because it's what I found myself to be good at) but my heroes and influences range from Hill & Vine though to the Hicks and Carlin (via Carrott and Evans). I think they are/were all brilliant at the kind of style they do/did. I admire the whole spectrum of different stand up comedy styles.
 
I like a lot of Dylan's stand up but his recent stuff hasn't been as good for me. But when he's on form he uses language wonderfully and has such a unique way of looking at things. I think he's really talented. I like Ed and Dara but I wouldn't rate them as highly as Dylan in terms of stand up.
 
I have heard of him before this list, I was mainly referring to people who didn't make the list but posters on here mention them.

Not a massive fan of Mason from the little I have seen, he was great in the simpsons though.
 
I didn't watch the show last night, but there's this obnoxious American comedian I saw on the TV recently. He looks like an Italian-American, and his act consists of putting swear words into nursery rhymes and slating women and foreigners from what I recall.

Anyone know who he is? I think his act's shite, but still...
