10 Points for Astronomy/Space Movies?

Off the top of my head.
"Destination Moon". Late forties early fifties. Way ahead of it's time.
"Rocketship X-M", RXM. Around the same time frame as above. Going to the moon and end up on Mars.
How about "This Island earth"?
"Forbidden Planet" was great.
"2001, A Space Odyssey".
"The Right Stuff" was really great.
"Apollo 13". Real life. Around the moon and back.

+You are better off asking this question in the Y!A > Entertainment & Music > Movies. This area deals more with factual info regarding Astronomy & Space rather than the fictional or entertainment side.

The new star trek movie

The red planet (I loved that movie)

Armageddon

Event Horizon

and from what other people say...2001: a space odyessey, but i saw that movie was made in like.. the 60's? lol.

"2001" is a good one. "Moon 44" is another. Star Trek- the orginal movies with the orginal actors. "The Right Stuff" is an excellent documentary on our space program. "The day the earth stood still" made back in 1955 or so. "Forbidden Planet" which was made around 1956.

Or, if you want to see the "Golden Turkey Award" for the Worst Movie of All Time- then find the movie "Plan 9 from Outer Space"
