I tried to put my personal opinions aside for this one. It is in no particular order.

1. Pantera - Reinventing The Steel
2. System Of A Down - Toxicity
3. The Black Dahlia Murder - Unhallowed
4. Neurosis - Given To The Rising
5. Shadows Fall - The War Within
6. Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
7. Mastodon - Leviathon
8. Between The Buried And Me - Colors
9. Slipknot - Slipknot
10. Eyehategod - Confederacy Of Ruined Lives

Think I missed something great? Think there's something on here that doesn't belong? Feel free to share your thoughts or give me your top 10.

Reinventing The Steel most influential metal album of the decade ya reckon? I'm gonna give it another spin haven't listened to it since it came out pretty much and I can't remeraber being that fond of it at the time.

Don't listen to that much newish metal infact although I've heard of all of those acts I haven't listened to half of them...

By the way, the album "Slipknot" was released at the very end of the 90s. Is it in the list for the influence it had on this decade? Because that opens up a whole new can of possibilities!
 
I always thought it the weakest of the classic era Pantera albums but "Goddamn Electric" is one of my fav Pantera songs.
 
Sorry. As I said, I tried not to base this off my own preferences and Slipknot is one of those on there I personally dislike. I did try to do my research, though and I don't know how it was overlooked.
What album should take it's place? Anyone got any suggestions?
Or should I just put Death Magnetic on there? jk
 
While Neurosis is definitely one of the more influential banRAB of the last 15 years, most of their important albums were in the 90s. I would swap it for ISIS - Oceanic which has spawned a legion of imitators in the genre. You could possibly make a case for the inclusion of Opeth and Meshuggah although they also have their roots in the 90s.

As much as I hate to admit it, Dream Theater and Nightwish should probably be on your list.
 
Isn't it a little early to say who was the most influential from the 00s. The decade only ended six months ago after all.
