Yes, guppies are tropical fish, therefore they need heaters as do tetras. You can't get just one or two tetras as the are schooling fish and need to be in groups of at least six or more as they seek refuge and protection in large groups.
In a 10g tank, you have these options:
*two female betta fish.
*only one male betta fish.
*3-4 guppies (either all male or all female, breeding gets tedious in that small of a tank) males have larger, more colourful tails as females have larger bodies with smaller, less colourful tails.
*one female betta fish and two ADF's (African dwarf frogs. They live in water.)
