No need to move the tank
iv got a 20 galon tank.
i would reccomend a 25% water change around every 10 days along as youve got a decently powerfull filter and aslong as your tanks not crammed with fish

to do this you need to by a rock / gravel vaccume + a water syphone
they are both very cheap and easy to use

My brother let me borrow (indefinitely) his 10 (maybe 20?) gallon tank for my Betta and possibly 2 other fish I might get. The thing is, I have no clue how to properly clean a fish tank (I have my betta in a 1 gallon bowl with a heater, thermometer, etc.). If I get a pleco, do I still do wate rchanges? How do I get the heavy tank off of my dresser to change the water? What percent water change do I have to do? How to properly clean poop out of the rocks?

I would love for my fish to have the tank and I think it would be a beautiful setup, however, I don't know what to do! Any help would be appreciated!
 
yes u always have to do water changes i do 25% water changes on my tank once a week i use a gravel vaccum to suck out all the poop just go to a pet store u can get one at a petstore for under $20.00
 
Plecos for a 10 gallon, even 20 gallon tank is unreasonable. There are tiny sucker fish sold at petstores that you'll want to buy. Plecos grow to 2 feet long and do best in 80+ gallons :]

Even with the sucker fish, you'll have to clean the water. If you get a siphon, remove 25% of the water weekly, but a filter's a must. The siphon can be poked in the gravel and you'll be able to see all your fish's poop being sucked up and in to a bucket that you place at the end of the tube (hopefully ._.)

Keep in mind that beta fish aren't guaranteed to do well with any kind of fish. They're just known to do better with community fish, such as neon tetras, platies, short-tailed guppies, etc.
 
Get a bucket and a gravel vacuum for your water changes. Remove about 2-3 gallons of the water into the bucket. If you get a pleco, get a candy stripe pleco(max. size is about 4") or a rubberlip pleco(max size is about 5"). Neither of them are particularly good algae eaters, though, so Otos would probably be better. Water changes are about removing nitrate from the tank, so you would still need to do them weekly. Also, you should cycle the tank before you add fish and never use any soaps or detergents on your tank. Also, make sure you buy a test kit for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.
