09 SG Tire Noise on Turns?

I have an 09 Street Glide that Harley had to replace the Front Tire at 4k miles because of Cupping (known issue).. I now have 10k Miles and have noticed on gradual turns in the 30-60mph range there is a noise coming from the tires that has been there from the start but is getting much louder.. Its almost like the whining sound your car makes when the powersteering gets low... Is this another example of the New Design creating Tire Treadware issues?.. Has anyone else noticed this?.. Should I be concerned?.. Thx!..jp

I'm gonna chime in here...
I have a 09 S/G and I have the same noise as well as others I have spoken to have the same noise so I wouldn't be overly concerned with it...
I feel it's a factor with the fatter tire on the bike along with the narrow tire on the front apposing each other...

Thanks Texas.. I guess as I brace for the eventual purchase of a New Rear Tire, I am wondering if there are some out there that eliminate this.. I am sure people have started replacing Tires, I will keep my eyes open for Feedback on different Brands.. ..jp

My rear tire was the culprit. A lot of highway miles and the center was wearing faster then the sides, and then those had ridges. In any turn, I would get a lot of noise. Finally replaced at 20K and problem went away.

'09 Electra Glide, front replace at 3,500 kilometer due to that cupping problem. Now have 22,000 kilometres and front 408 is still in good shape but rear 407 is cupping badly and if VERY noisy when doing curves etc at any speed. Not too bad when riding straight. Still lots of meat on it but intend to get ride of it at the end of the season and try an E3 or something. Don't know what yet but the stock Dunlops just don't seem to do it these days.

Any time something starts making noise I am concerned. What tire did they replace it with? 407 or 408? If you slid your hand on the tire can you fell it even or bumpy? Bumpy means it is cupping. Check air pressure. Make sure the pressure is correct then take to dealer?

I've had 3 sets of E3's in the past and if you look at the tread design it's really quite similar to the 407's and 408's.

The E3's are the worst tire I've had for howling as soon as you put a few miles on them. They also cup badly but I'm convinced that regardless of which heavy bike you have, you're going to get the cupping.

I had the E3's on goldwings............howling and cupping despite keeping tire pressure at 41psi.

Now on the Ultra with 10,000 miles I'm getting the howling when taking curves and some slight cupping.

All Good Stuff Guys, Thx!.. I maintain tire Pressure regularily at 40lbs. So, I have a feeling my issue is from me primarily Freeway Riding and the Center is wearing like Jolly Rogers said.. The encouraging news is that it Sounds like most people are averaging 15k miles on the rear tire so I have some time yet..
