09 SG needs a new battery, recommendations?

Why do you think your battery is shot? Could have other issues......No reason that battery should be shot already, even if you tortured it.

Chicago Harley sells everything online for 20% off, so that would put you at around 120.00 plus shipping. But as stated above, Deka does make Harley's batteries so if you can find one around you it should be considerably cheaper.

Try Alpha Dog http://alphadogchoppers.com/Specials/BatteryOffers.html. He sells Deka batteries, which are original Harley equipment, but just doesn't have the Harley logo on the batt. American made quality. It's exactly what you have in your bike now, but without the HD logo. Price is much better than your dealer. He sends 'em out US mail and offers great service. I've bought one, and other members of the Delphi Road King Riders forum where he often posts. Tell him Fitz sent ya.

Just yesterday I bought the battery from Battery Plus. It is the same battery Harley uses from Deka. It even looks exactly the same. It has a 24 month guarantee. No prorating, they give you a new one if it should fail in 24 months. I think Harley gives you 6 months on a replacement battery and it would be prorated. I replaced the original Harley battery at 24 months. This battery from Battery Plus was $134.99 plus $3.00 Environmental Fee. Out the door it was $149.37. It is called Extreme X2 12 volt AGM 30LA. They have a cheaper battery that will fit, but it is not recommended for Touring Bikes which have extra requirements.

The reason the battery is toast is because I live in Phoenix, AZ most batteries to include car batteries only last 2 years here.

Thanks for the info on the Deka

I had the same issue three weeks ago, my 09" SG's battery crapped the bed as well. Is always on a trickle charge as well is the wifes Nightster. Went to the dealer the next morning w/the dead battery, they told me 4-5 hrs of charge and I said I might as well just buy a new battery and the service mgr said "just a minute, here take this new battery w/you" and stop by w/your bike so I can check the charging system. I did, and everything checked out A-OK. Well, my point is this, I think there is an issue w/some of these newer batteries and also "hats off to Cycle Connections" of Joplin, MO.
