My bikes battery is on its last legs. I called the local dealer and they quoted me $149.99 Plus tax. I figure I can get it cheaper elsewhere and/or get better. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Ya know, I know there a bit pricer, but I'd stick with the one from HD. Might check with another dealer for price but their usually the same msrp. Have actually heard pretty good quality of the HD ones. Any idea why yours pooped out so soon? And a bit of support back to the dealers is not a bad thing, cause we do want them around at times
Man sorry to hear that!!!! Still have my original in my 04 FLHT...I do keep it on a charger.... You might do a search on Batteries, alot of good info in the archives.
Good Luck!!! ............o~`o.............
Any thought on what toasted your battery.
That thing should of lasted at least 4 years.
I know that batteries and tires are not covered, but I'd complain (not that it would do any good).
Stick with a HD battery. Better construction, at least the terminals are. Try to find a dealer giving at least a 10% discount if you can. I bought another brand battery and shit canned it several months latter. The bridge type terminal on it broke.
That's very short life for a battery charger or not. These gel batteries should last lot longer. Had original battery for 7yrs on my Fatboy when I sold it.
Yeap, I'd have them check the drain and charge on the battery as part of the replacements. Something doewsn't sound right. We use a trickle charger during the winter when we are not riding, but my wife's 03 V-rod still has the original battery.
My battery is 6 years old and in great shape (I think). It is on the tender whenever I am not riding, summer and winter. If you don't have one, it would be a good idea.
Geez guys, harley doesn't make their own batteries. They're made by Deka. Check online for the Deka ETX30L, it's the exact same battery. You should be able to find one for around $100.
Oh yea, the number I posted is from memory. Someone will probably confirm the number shortly. If ole dawg shows up, I guarantee he'll know the number. I'd bet a dollar to to a doughnut, but hell, a doughnut cost a dollar now-a-days.
