09 RKC Bottoms Out, But Which Component is Actually Bottoming Out?

09 RKC, 3K miles, with Profile Low Touring shocks (part #54635-09).

When the bike bottoms out, it makes a sharp, metallic 'clang' sound.

Exactly what components are banging together to make this sound? I assume it's not the tire hitting the inside of the rear fender.

Put some air in the rear shocks!....15lbs or so

On a curve, it is your foot board support brackets.

In a straight line, it is your frame rails.

Good thing both are steel, huh.

Did that. I'm curious as to which pieces are actually hitting when I bottom out.

on my electra glide i had lowering blocks and the tire fit the fender...i changed to the hd lowered shocks with no lowering blocks and now i can here the shock bottom out. put some air in. try 25psi. it should help

On my 2010 Limited there is a scooped are in the muffler to give clearance for the bottom of the shock. I have 12" Progressives and they will bottom out, but they don't hit the muffler.
