07 Toyota corolla has automatic transmission shifting issues?

Car only has 20K miles! Going from park to first gear, first to second etc the car jerks, shifts hard. Problem is intermittent...does not happen at the same intensity or all the time. Check engine light is on, but sometimes turns off when the problem goes away.

Transmission fluid looks OK...good color its red(not dirty) and the level is fine, though right at max. What other easy things can I check before I take it in? Does this car have a transfer case and does it have fluid? Should I try to get a transmission service before taking it to the dealer? it's under warranty.
 
The vehicle is totally under warranty. Just take it in to the dealer and have it fixed for free. Dont do anything other than that, like changing fluid etc... or you might void the warranty.
