'07 Idle Issues

Dawg I have 07 FLHX with the Harley down load, after running up to operation and shuting down for around 30 minutes, It is hard to start about 5or6 cranks before starting. Do you think the stage 1 down load messed up the TPS calibration? Did not do this till I had the stage 1 down load.

You may have a good point. Mine is an early 07. No downloads, no problems.
Have had low idle issues but cleaning the IAC has worked so far.

Try starting the bike immediately after turning on the ignition switch. That may help with the starting delay. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem related to the Stage 1 download.

I sprayed carb cleaner on the IAC but when I tried to toggle the run switch I thought the butterfly was going to take my finger off. How much pressure should I expect from the butterfly? 08 Ultra

Thanks in advance,

Bhrett

I think the 08 is different than an 07. The butterfly on my 07 doesn't move.
Can you see or feel the IAC in front of the butterfly?

I have an 06 EGC with the high- low idle problems, build date 6/06. In 08 I installed a Thunder Max w/ auto tune and the problem went away. I recently took the Thunder Max off and reinstalled the stock ECM and the problem is back. I'm gonna try to clean the stepper valve and see what it does but I think the ECM has some thing to do with it also....

I don't think the '08 even has an IAC since it is TBW. I know the '09's don't have one and I assume idle is regulated by the ECM and the servo cable. Any idle issues with TBW bikes would likely not be relative to what we're discussing in this thread, and I think '08's have their own idle problems that have been discussed before in earlier threads. I don't recall the details on this.

Your '06 may be like our '07's but I haven't heard of problems with this year model. Anyone else? It's interesting that you have the same symptoms with a late-'06 bike, which makes me wonder if all these problems may be related to a bad batch of IAC motors or the use of the SE AC we've been talking about here.

Some here seem to have fixed their problems with an ECM re-flash, but this didn't work for me. Since the T'Max replaces the stock ECM I wonder if in your case the problem might not be program-related. Please keep us posted.

I think your right, I don't have an IAC. I do have air sensor at about 12:05 just behind the butterfly. I'm pulling a PO151 which is a rear O2 sensor $43. I don't have any major idle problems but I did clean the air sensor tip. I'm going to change out the O2 and see if it clears the code.

Got to get ready for the Conesville IA Harley drags Labor Day week end.
