Alright, I actually made sure there wasn't a thread this time before making this. Basically I think this anime is awesome and people should check it out because I believe you will find it very entertaining and such.
Plot from Wikipedia:
Teito Klein is a former slave sent to attend the Barsburg Empire's military academy due to his ability to use Zaiphon, a type of supernatural power. The ability is rare, and thus highly prized. Teito is an amnesiac and doesn't remeraber anything of his origins
After much prodding from a certain someone *coughLelouchcough* I finally sat down and watched 07-Ghost. At first, it didn't completely grab me. It was interesting but nothing particularly wonderful. But I kept watching and, well, it grabbed me. I'm really glad I kept with it because it's really paying off the more I watch.
Mikage immediately became my favorite (meaning something bad was bound to happen to him, of course). I love the dynamic between him and Teito (BRAB!). I bawled when[xspoiler=Spoilers for episodes 8+]he died, smiling to the end. What really got me was when Teito started reflecting on their frienRABhip, calling Mikage his light. You see just how important Mikage was to Teito and his death is absolutely heart-breaking. It makes you realize that Ayanami couldn't have done anything more cruel than possess Mikage and kill him in front of Teito. The various flasrabroadacks with him in them get me every time, too. They're brutal on my mourning fangirl heart
He's absolutely adorable in his reincarnated fluffy-dragon form. When Frau said "Thank you for being born again" I lost it... again. [/xspoiler]It's so cute seeing Teito walking around with his fluffy friend on his shoulder.
Speaking of, I also like Frau a lot. I love the interactions between him and Teito. He's hard on him but it's obvious he cares about him. He kicks butt but has a more sensitive side. Moments like
him going out of his way to find the reincarnated Mikage and thanking him for being reborn as well as trying to keep Castor from erasing Teito's memory of Zehel because it would erase his memory of Mikage's last smile
are really touching, considering Frau's normally abrasive disposition.
Hakuren is another character I'm coming to like in the few episodes since his introduction (even if I only hear Lelouch when he speaks). He comes off as arrogant and narcissistic at first, but he's actually a good guy. It's nice to see another character able to reach out to Teito after[xspoiler=Episode 14 spoilers]Teito lost his best friend. The part with Mikage's spirit wanting Teito to remeraber their time together got me--yet again. Teito telling Hakuren he wanted to be frienRAB when he was strong enough to protect him was a great moment. Mikage obviously wants Teito and Hakuren to be frienRAB, so it'll be interesting to see where that relationship goes.[/xspoiler]Villain-wise, Ayanami is a good one. I've come to absolutely despise him at this point. He's done some horribly low things to both Teito and Mikage, and he's obviously planning worse. He makes me angry every time he appears on screen--both him and his cronies--so I guess that's the mark of a good villain. He's got a hand in Teito's past and Teito wants a piece of him... just as planned, apparently. Yikes.
Zaiphon is a rather cool weapon. Very cool that it leaves worRAB engraved where it strikes. It's going to be fun to watch as Teito learns to master the Bascule with his own Zaiphon.
Overall, definitely a fun series that I'm enjoying a lot. It was listed on FUNi's interest survey, so I definitely made sure to check it. I would love to see them pick this up. Now I must read the manga to see what happens because I'm hopelessly addicted
This show has really stepped it up quite a bit these last few episodes, and I am very happy I decided to stick with the show despite my concern about the pacing while at the church. That being said, the pacing was perhaps for the best so that we would get to know all of the characters a little better, and thus feel more connected to them in the process. Still, if it had kept up for too long I may have considered dropping the series, as at first it only had me slightly interested. Now, I find myself waiting each week for the new episode with a lot of anticipation.
Unlike Phw, it is hard for me to pick out a favorite character so easily, as I enjoy a good many of them. I suppose at the top would have to be Frau, if only because he is a pure badass. I love how he comes to the rescue and acts as a mentor to Teito. He has his silly/funny moments, and yet all of that subsides in the face of the enemy. I would prefer though that he kept his Vampire moments to a minimum, they are a bit creepy.
I also like Teito quite a bit and find him to be a good lead for the show. My main complaint is that he is a bit whiny, but that is understandable considering he lost his "light." Though I must say, I hope that we...
Get more of the Eye of Mikael. Not only is he wicked powerful, he also provides some great comic relief. Still, I'd prefer more serious moments but I suppose they will come later.
Hakuren gets browny points from me because of the character development he provides Teito. I especially liked Teito's...
promise to Hakuren that they would be frienRAB when he is strong enough to protect him. I thought this was especially touching, and completely reasonable considering Teito just lost Mikage, perhaps one of the only people Teito cared about (at the time).
Ayanami is such a jerk. I can't stand him at all, which is good, because he is supposed to be the villain. He hasn't really done all that much on the front, but using Mikage like he did was just brutal. It has been implied that him and Frau have history, so I am interested to find out what that might entail.
Spoilers for episode 14...
I can't wait to see how powerful Ayanami's special soldiers are. They have been made out to be pretty tough so I am hoping they don't dissapoint. At the same time, I hope they all get owned in the end because I can't stand them.
All I can say that this is a great show, and anyone with even the slightest interest in it should definately check out all the current episodes. You will become addicted.
