'07 Fork Oil Change

I changed the fork oil two weeks ago using iclicks procedure. I put the bike on a jack as leon suggested. Draining went very quickly. Filling went very slow. Pouring all the fork oil in filled the the filling tube and stopped. I had to let the bike down so the tire hit the ground a couple of times to pump the forks. This pushed oil back up and some spilled out where the tube entered the top of the fork. On the other side I filled using half the oil, pumped the folks and added the rest. This worked as expected. Had to redo the first side do to the spill, to make sure the oil amount was correct.

The result of going form the stock oil to the SE Heavy Folk Oil is outstanding. The front end wallow is gone. Handling and ride is
definitely improved. Thanks to all for the instruction.
 
I forgot to say that wen you are putting the oil in you should use a hose a little
smaller that the hole in the fork tubes so as air can escape when you pour in
the oil or it will back up in the hose to your funnel.
 
yea, right!!! and the record and rave reviews of most service depts. affirms their deligence and commitment to detail LOL. maybe you have a different experience with your service dept. but I will be changing my fluids myself.
 
I was changing fork oil on something one time. I had removed the drain plug and, of course, it did not drain very well at all. I had the bright idea to apply some air pressure to the drain plug to relieve the vacuum. So I put the air hose to the drain plug and gave it a shot of compressed air.

Man was that ever fun!!!!!! (You know what happened.)

Just finished changing the fork oil in my 07 Ultra using iclick's instructions. The only problem I had was on the first side, I was pumping the forks after adding half the oil. The rubber hose came out of the top of the forks and I didn't notice. Poured about 5 ounces straight through my funnel and over my towel I had placed covering the tank, just for such screwups. I drained it and started over with the results as expected this time.

He has made it so clear and concise I think my wife could do it..... Well, OK, maybe not her, but you know what I mean. Thanks iclick, yet again.
 
Did mine yesterday.

No matter what I tried, those damn drain screws would not loosen up. Finally pulled out the large vise grips.

Now to the stealer to get new screws.

With the bike elevated, I got almost 11oz out of each fork over a four hour period. So I guess the 10.8oz figure is correct.

Guys, put your bike up on a lift so the front end is off the ground. Then just fill the forks and there will be no need to pump the forks and make a mess!!!

The fluid that came out appeared to be AT fluid and with only 800+ miles on the bike, it was still dark red with no smell.
 
Now you tell me...... Actually I had mine on a lift, but had read a previous post of someone having trouble getting all of the oil in without pumping. I figured better safe that sorry as far as the pumping. I will know next time to just add it all slowly without pumping. Thanks for the info.
 
iClick, thanks for posting this procedure. I used this procedure on my '06 EG today, went smooth as silk and the forks feel wonderful. I didn't time the service but it did not take long. Thanks again for the post
