I saw another user post this same question but didnt give enough details...

The car is an automatic. The problem just started happening this week, and we've got about 20K miles on the car. We've been on vacation and traveling through the mountains to high elevations, through both hot and cold weather. Not sure if that matters?

What happens is, when you turn the car on, the shifting button wont 'click' and allow the shifter to move out of park. It usually eventually works, but might take 1-2 tries, or 25-30 tries. I jiggle the shifter, and sometimes it will click in right after. But again, not sure if that's really helping, might just be coincidence.

Any ideas??

Well make sure you hold your brake down and make sure it is all the way in park some times if it aint all the way up the button wont go in well if i was there it would be ez to check it out and help but sorry

It is either a loose wire on the solenoid mounted at the shifter (to allow the locking mechenism to release), or the solenoid itself is bad.

Fairly simple fix if you've got some tools and time. The solenoid is mounted right next to the shifter. If the vehicle is still under warrenty, take it to your nearest dealer and see if they have the time to fix it. It may leave you stranded... The fix shouldn't take more than a couple hours.

you still should have a warranty on that car. get hold of where you bought it and they will come out with a rollback and get it, ask for a loaner until yours is fixed.
