I am in the process of selecting a new bike. I just got rid of my 03 Honda 600RR and I am VERY interested in a 1098. Just to start from a blank sheet of paper, what do you consider to be the major differences in the two bikes? You can start with the basics. Thanks in advanced.

Power, lots of power. Money, lots of money. If you are currently riding a 600RR, you should be fine with a 1098. It has much more power. But you'll get use to it in no time at all. It's a Ducati, you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the reply Duckie! So the 1098 has a dry clutch correct? Kinda a newbie when it comes to some of this stuff obviously but i plan on really taking care of my Duc once purchased. Haven't been able to really get into bikes as im in the military. But now i am finally in a position where ill actually be able to ride a bike for at least a year or two! Im always deployed. Anyways, with the clutch, dry vs wet, whats the big difference? Should I expect to stall coming off the lot as I have never ridden a dry clutch bike?

Correct. The 1098 has a dry clutch. You can change gears faster and smoother. It sounds nice and looks even better with an open clutch cover.

Ducati has a two years unlimited miles warranty. Depends on how much work you're planning to do yourself, check with your local dealer or manual. It could void your warranty.

Yea I thought about the 848 but I told myself the next bike I get will be my dream bike. And ever since the 1098 came out, I was in love. So if im able to drop this much cash on something, it might as well be something I 120% want. But to be quite honest, not really feeling the "Pearly white" color. But definitely a sweet bike indeed.

Big difference when you see the "Pearly" white in person, thought the same when I got my 848, had paperwork done on the 1098 but figured get a bike I can use at least 75% of it's potential instead of no more than 50% of it's potential, to each his own, at least get a Duck. Peace.

Totally agree on the use of its potential. I figure though I will have this bike for a VERY long time and will more than likely have opportunities present itself to do so, eventually. Thanks Wood.
