6 gears on a 50cc? You must spend the whole time changing, that would be like a gear for every 5mph. Yamaha is one down five up. You sure there are six gears? You don't count the neutrals you know ;-)

KTM are european so they would use metric. Get the best spanners you can afford and they'll last you for years. Halfords Professional do a good socket/ spanner for under £100 but you can get a cheap set and then replace with quality stuff when you can afford it.

Not a good choice for two up but if it's only for a few miles I guess you could put up with it. YBR is a sensible choice to learn on, it's not sporty so insurance should be cheaper. It will be a bit more comfortable than a race rep for your pillion too once you've passed your test.
