For whatever reason, Nokia actually has 2 model number codes for N71-2 (you can search for code numbers on the intrawebs). One of the codes is enabled for update, the other is not. A few people on the web were able to change model codes and do the update with varying results.

Paul, what program are you using to view the maps? Also, try changing the resolution of the images to 72 pixels per inch. You won't lose any detail--the maps would just PRINT bigger.
