Yeah, I did'nt care for it either, for the reasons you mentioned (as well as the dull animation).

The artwork did have similar traits to Mucha Lucha since the creator worked on that show, but I thought that it was much, much better than the artwork for that show. The voices also didn't annoy me anywhere near as the voices for Mucha Lucha either.
