I was advised by my father, who is in the Army, that as long as he doesn't swear in again he doesn't have to ship. The second swearing in is what really counts. Just sit and think about all the pros and cons. I wish you both the best with your decision. I ship out in January.
They won't disqualify you. They will actually help and this is from my friend that just went to basic training recently. I am shipping off soon and I can't swim either.
