If you swapped carbs, and it then ran fine, it sounds like you MAY ave pinched the diaphragm in your carb when you changed it....from the description of symptoms, this sounds exactly like what a ripped/pinched diaphragm does. Pull the carb top off and double check it. EDIT...Also double check...
