they didn't lose out on $1 each... they lost out on $2/3 because there were three of them meaning there was no last $1 because this shows they each paid $9 and 2/3 so.... $9 2/3 + $9 2/3 + $9 2/3 = $28 and the assistant kept the last two... proving there was no last $- Jaspal
