If yes, then what kind of pedals would break 'em and how exactly would the pickups break? I use a Yamaha CX-40 and I'm planning to get a few pedals, but my friends tell me that it could break my guitar's piezoelectric pickups.

it only happens when set to 1/1 at any zoom distance or when used off camera on a Phottix Aster. the batteries get really hot after use, too. Correction: i use a Phottix Tetra not an Aster. and that's the only remote flash trigger i have.
