i just replaced my old sony xplod amp with this older orion extreme 400 amp.i bought a fuse block for it, after i tried hooking u without the fuse block, and when i touched the battery(red) cable to it's spot on the amp, it sparked and blew both fuses....so i replaced the fuses on the amp...and...

with or without the wiring harness ? do i cut the wires that lead out from the truck and just connect the colors to the back of the aftermarket cd player, or do i need to use the wiring harness, i can't figure this out. -i don't have the factory anymore, so cut the wires ?

i have the aftermarket unit, and the wiring harness. but i am confused because when i connect the harness to the set of wires that come out of the factory (chip, or whatever it is called) the wire colors do not match up...and i know i have the right wire harness, but say the red wire coming out...
