no dont do any mods to that bike. if you really want to start racing i would invest in a actual motocross bike. you could step up to a 125 race bike. but those bikes arent meant to race so if you will be riding moto a lot get a race bike and sell your 140.

when you go race or ride you basically pay for yourself if you get hurt. you are signing a sheet saying everything is at your own risk the track is not responsible for any injuries... so as far as additional insurance that would be up to your choice i guess.
