Look at the rear rims you have now. Do they have holes between the studs ? Unless I am mistaken ( it happens now & then haha) the studs for the outer wheels are driven in the holes between the inner studs; again I am not positive tho

I am guessing that either you have tried to clean it w /o success, or you just don't like the looks. Contact paper would work, although not sure if it would look "tacky" or not
