    My fish just died! Is it possible that she burned herself on the heater?

    Heaters heat the water slowly to keep the fish from being shocked. Is it possible that the heater malfunctioned and made the water really hot? A functioning heater won't heat the water so much that you'll smell something burning, and it definitely won't burn the fish so that it dies. Good luck
