Roll the quad forward and back when shifting gears, while the engine is not running. The transmission gears will not mesh properly unless the quad is moving, or the engine is running.

Check the main fuse terminals. Change the main fuse to make sure that isn't a problem. The starter solenoid holds the main fuse - the solenoid may need to be replaced. Keep a 12v test light with you and ride around. When the bike goes dead, test for power at the main fuse.

Tighten the battery cable connections with a wrench, not a screw driver - a screw driver won't get them tight enough.
