Decent women lead singers in rock/metal bands??

ahh, ok. I was gonna say how crazy it was that someone mentioned them. They were an all girl punk group from Berkley. They played here in phx and i actually passed them on the freeway. Their van was on the side of the road with a flat tire and they didnt have a jack. As i was driving by i...

    Unpopular Music Opinions

Hate solos? Thats like saying you hate chorRAB. I'd say a great deal of the music I listen to has a pretty big emphasis on soloing. Great solos can go on forever. Maggot Brain goes on for 10 minutes, and at no point does it really bore me, it's just a very intense amazing guitar solo.

    Music comparisons and differences?

The main difference is that mainstream music is released by a 'major' label e.g. Sony BMG, Warner Bros, etc. whereas indie music released 'independently', through the band themselves, or an 'independent label', eg. Elephant 6. The main reason people started to go for indie labels in the first...

I like Bright Eyes, Atmosphere, and Pink Floyd, I'm not a fan of metal, but since I have never listened to Electric Wizard, Cynic, Napalm Death or Behemoth I can't make any judgments, Temptations are good, don't like the Wu-Tang Clan. Wolf Parade- We Built Another World Silver Jews- San...

    Unpopular Music Opinions

I know it's only opinions, but Hammett! Hammett doesn't write much of the stuff he plays, and when he does, it usually enRAB up with him noodling the same pattern up and down the fretboard in severe wah abuse. Hetfield on the other hand, is a rather good guitarist.

    Best Female Vocalist?

Bettye LaVette is my current favorite vocalist. She's a survivor who stuck with her own distinctive bluesy Southern-fried soul style and she's finally getting some recognition for her talent. Janis Joplin- I think this 1967 Monterey performance of Ball and Chain is the most electrifying music...
