Desperate to find out whats wrong with lower back

You sound a lot like me. My pain started 5.5 months ago. Since then the pain has gone from an annoyance to horrible, I need to go to the ER type of pain. It is in my lower back middle and to the left, left groin, and down my left leg. It is the worst in the evenings and at night. I cannot...

    Questions about upcoming fusion surgery

    1. My surgeon stated that I should only need pain medication for about a month post op. Is that really possible? My grandmother had this operation 9 years ago and was on Lortab for 8 months post op! From what I read on here it seems that most of you take them for longer. I am afraid that I...

    Fusion Surgery- Questions to Ask

Laf- Yes I could take frequent breaks. I pretty much set my own schedule, and just as long as I get my work done, I can do whatever I want. Good news, my surgeon had a cancelating for tomorrow morning and they offered the appointment to me. I am scared and nervous and excited, but now I have...

Any ideas on my Back Pain

The leg and buttocks pain sounRAB like a pinched sciatic nerve. I have the type of pain you are describing, but mine is daily, almost constantly. You could try some exercises to strengthen your lower back. Have you seen your doctor about it? Maybe they could do some imaging to see if there...

    Okay listen to this....

Yeah I am 8 days post op and already into my second script of oxycodone. I didn't even get a week, I got 5 days (since I was in the hospital for a few days). My second script was only 5 days as well, since it was an exact repeat of the first. With the exact same instructions. So it will run...

    Update

So this morning I hobbled into PT like a 90 year old woman. The therapist wanted me to see the doctor instead of doing my workout since I have been in such awful pain. I was crying as I tried to do my stuff. I had never met this Dr. before, but he is the doctor assigned to me at the PT place...

    Spondylolisthesis

Thank you everyone- removed it is just better sometimes to hear it from real people:) SpineAZ, how have you been since the surgery? Any complications? Has your quality of life improved? Too Young for Back Pain

I am not as young as you, but also too young for back pain! I am 28. Anyway, a year and a half ago I suddenly developed back, leg, and groin pain out of no where. I waited for a long time to go to the doctor. After many tests and a lot of conservative treatment, I had a fusion of L5-S1...

Pain in lower left back and side. Can anyone help? Dr. says muscular. It's not. Help!

I don't have any ideas on your pain, but I would like to give you some advice. Go to a different doctor! Here's my story: My pain started 5-6 months ago. I went to the DR. after 1 month. HE told me the same thing...a muscle strain. I knew better deep in my heart. I called back after...

    Next Step

Thank you both for your replies- I had PT today, and he thinks I need surgery. I told him I had one last appointment scheduled with him before my appointment with the surgeon, and he actually said only to come if I really wanted too. Not sure what that means. I guess we will see what happens...

    Second Thoughts

Okay, so my fusion is 2.5 weeks away and I am getting really scared, really, really scared. I am afraid of the pot op pain and recovery. I am also afraid of being cut open in 2 places. I will have incisions in my back and abdomen. I keep telling myself that I need to do this because my life...

    I am Miserable

Oh my gosh I cannot imagine being pregnant right now. You poor thing. Are you able to take any pain meRAB besides Tylenol? Had this not happened, we would actually be trying for nuraber 2 right about now. I will not get pregnant for at least a year after the fusion, even though the surgeon...

Pain that is out of control! HELP!

The discogram said that my L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs were contributing to my pain. That was back in Noveraber and they did use imaging with that test, although I do not think it was a CT. The doc who preformed that test (not the surgeon I was seeing at the time) said I needed surgery. At my next...

    I am Miserable

I just need some reassurance from others going through the same thing. I am really slumping into a depression. The pain is agony, and not being able to do things just makes it worse. For those of you who don't know me, I am a 27 year old wife and mom to a 16 month old darling little girl. My...

What Does Anterolisthesis Of The L5 Upon S1 Mean

I believe it means that your L5 vertebrae is slipping off your S1. I have Spondylolisthesis, which means that my L5 is slipping off my S1 toward my belly. Maybe Anterolisthesis means it is slipping backwarRAB?

    Surgery confusion

Hi- I have seen many Dr.'s. They all see my spondy, but only the surgeon has seen my disc tear/ bulge/ disc disease. I have so far had an x-ray and an MRI, but the surgeon has ordered more tests before coming up with a plan. I am having a CT scan on Monday to give him more info about my...

    The Injection Didn't Work

Thanks for your responses. I did not notice a single day of relief. I also had increased pain for a couple of days but I was told that is normal. Today was a horrible pain day... from the walk I presume. BigBlue- Spondylolisthesis is a condition where I have a fracture in my L5 pars, and...

    discogram test

Beth- I have been being treated for Spondy in my L5 vertebrae. Tuesday I met with a surgeon and he was the first person to even mention that I have an annular tear in my L4-L5 disc with a bulge and disc disease. Since he was the first one to mention it to me, he was also the first one to...

Desperate to find out whats wrong with lower back

P.S. Stop going to the chiropractor! They have their place, but I don't think it is smart to have one adjusting your back when you don't know the cause of your pain. If there is indeed a fracture, the chiro could make your problem a whole lot worse.

    Anyone know about Femoral artery?

Please don't let the chiropractor treat you. Especially if you don't know what the problem is! I started off with similar pain in my groin. It really only bothered me when I stood up from a sitting position. My Chiro diagnosed it as a tight or strained muscle and went to work on me with her...
