i'd say it depends on what u use most on ur phone if you wanna use it for just a phone, then i'd say the z520. I think SE has better call quality and RF than motorola. If you want a camera, mp3 and phone all in one then get the v635

If you're in a rural area it would probably serve you well to also consider additional smaller companies for the best coverage that you may not even know covers your area. Alltel and USCC do very well in rural areas that they cover. There also may be another even smaller provider that covers...

did you buy it used? perhaps the prvious owner flashed it with phoenix and used the wrong language pack. i would upgrade you fw with the nokia nsfu and see if that fixes the problem
