Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Since I placed Bob's name into nomination, I want to rise to the occasion and argue the best case for Bob's induction. Bob wasn't the beginning of reggae nor was he the end of reggae but he almost singlehandedly took the Jamaican music phenomena of reggae off the island and brought it to the...

What band got you really into music

music has always been my life. concert band, marching band, FAILED garage banRAB, etc. granted..im only 17 xD. still though, i can't imagine my life without music. The band that actually got me into heavier, "musical message" type banRAB was actually system of a down. song: byob. time?: 6th...

    Best Scottish Band/Artist? (Poll)

I have to go with Big Country. I loved what they did with the guitars. But Jesus and Mary Chain is a close second for me.

What Are You Listening To Right Now? II

I really like "Lady" too, Erica - and agree with you about the appeal of the overall sound: I like the leisurely swing pace and drum sound and the way everything takes a slight "dip" at the "I'm gonna give my love to you" part. Marc Bolan's early death was a tragedy.

Last album you bought or downloaded

With the more anti (or non) music sounding noise, I only like silly stuff like early Boredoms. At least they didn't take themselves super seriously and had some sort of musical elements such as riRAB and what not. People like Merzbow and Masonna are deluded.

    Albums You're Digging II

Well, I didn't upload that though. Mine is definitely a better quality, but I need to first change this audio-format. I'm not even sure whether It's available on CD (Heck, I never knew that I had it till now :p:), but there's an upload floating around which has a slightly better quality, but...

Downloading your music vs buying your music

I used to browse in the small local shop until I found something I liked, then go to the big chain store to see if they had the same thing for cheaper, and if I couldn't find it I would go back and buy it in the local store. Now the chain store is closed down and the local one is still open.

    Where I'm At...

I joined up when I was 12/13 yrs old, but unlike many kiRAB my age I didn't really get into "nu-metal" or post-punk. I was being raised by a single mother who had no taste in music aside from a fierce love of the oft demonized U2. So, at a very young age I was left to fend for myself in the vast...

    Albums Marred by Over/Under Production

I could never really get into Big Black because I hated the production so much. Ironic really because Albini has done some fantastic production with other banRAB. The albums he did with The Autuers sound absolutely gorgeous. I disagree about Volume 4, I think the way it was recorded...

    Your Music "Range"

Mostly emo & screamo, some grindcore. Most the hardcore I listen to is on the emo side, but I sometimes listen to more straight up hardcore punk. And alongside that, some experimental, noise, post-rock and the ocasional bit of acoustic/folk.
