Only 5 seriously? I would consider myself a relative non mainstream fan but I have heard 41 of those albums and own 22 of them :( Still doesn't mean it's a good list though at all.

Not in the traditional sense but there were some great British post punk banRAB that used funk as a base for their sound. Not that I would argue they were better. Two totally different things.
