Have you checked the main engine fuse?

I am guessing you need to know how to repair the wires.I would just cut the bad part out and splice a new wire in trying to keep the same color and gauge then I would use heat shrink tubing or electrical wire tape to cover your splices

Replace the fuel filter and give it a complete tune up

You need to check for spark at the #1 spark plug wire if there is no spark then your problem will be in the ignition system,if there is spark then I would squirt some starting fluid in the throttle body and if it fires up then your problem will be in the fuel delivery

It's not a fuel problem if it is starting up,it's not a fuse,I would check the ignition switch relay and then I would check the ignition switch. It sounds like you have a short inside the ignition relay switch

Check the fuses you may have blowen the main engine fuse when the cables shorted, you also have a pick up coil inside the distributor
