Pick up a haynhes or chilton manual for your 84 chevrolet from your local auto parts store... the complete wiring diagram will be in the back and will help you step by step...... at any rate best of luck.
Getting worse gas mileage than normal means its time for a tune up..... have the sparkplugs, sparkpulg wires, distributor cap, air filter and ignition rotor replaced and you should see better gas mileage and have a smoother ride... best of luck.
