I guess I will need the HD cords to use the PS3. My TV does support all the HD settings (480i/p, 720p and 1080i) just not with AV cords. That's only 480i. Would that explain the distortion and noise though? I don't think it would cause problems just cause it was hooked up through the AV cable...
