To be fair to Melody Maker this was written after it's relaunch in 1998 when it went from being a half decent credible paper to an awful downmarket glossy that pandered to rock/metal fans. Not surprising that it closed down shortly after that.

meh, they're really not that good. in all senses underwhelming. that it's better than Oasis' last 3 albums isn't saying much at all.

It sounRAB more like you erabrace the idea of music being better at a certain time, it's just in your case that time is the present instead of the past. At least your perspective is more optimistic than the people who think the best times are past though.
