YES... it could work.. but Im guessing its not a straight swap... but with access to a lathe & milling machine.. & the ability to adapt them to fit.. easy stuff given time & the inclination

yes you could bore it out.. IF.. you can find the right size piston, theres enough "meat" on the barrels to allow for the Diameter.. cost would be a gasket kit, the cost of the rebore, pistons , rings, labor... might be easier to fit the XR650 motor from a newer bike..

Ive been riding bikes longer than most people on here have been alive,, & weather I was riding a 250RD Yamaha or the 800 Ducati super sport.. learning its limits was not a 6 month exercise.. still believe a good rider on a small bike beats a big bike with a guy that doesn't have a clue...

timing chain........... remove the plugs. & the tappet covers.. turn the motor over slowly using the rear wheel & the bike in gear.. check the piston comes up to TDC when the valves are closed.. if not the chain may need replaced or the cam chain tensioners.. or both..
