Nice review, this is a good album. I work with a guy who keeps playing it just about every night at the moment. I do like it but TBH would rather listen to other saxophonists such as Stan Getz or Bud Shank. Perhaps I dont appreciate John Coltrane as much as I should. Other good albums by him...

I think American music set the template-Blues, Rock N Roll etc, and the British polished it to a bright shine! I prefer British banRAB on the whole, as I can identify with them more and British music has been phenomenally successful in the past, but RnB and rap seems to be dominating the media...

I don't think you realize how popular the Chili Peppers were in the 90s. They were already playing stadiums, headlining festivals, and very much a part of the mainstream. I would say it's their 90s-era stuff that's the equivalent of The Wall, their 00s stuff is the equivalent of Momentary Lapse...

There's not a huge difference, but there are a lot of banRAB in this genre would be alienated from brit-pop because of the 'pop' part. BanRAB like Bloc Party would not fit into brit-pop but would easily fit into Brondie, although I hate Bloc Party. Here are some banRAB/artists that would fit...
