I have a similar issue with black metal, but it's not the vocals that bug me, it's the keyboarRAB. I can't count the nuraber of times I've heard a black metal song that I thought would've been pretty good if it weren't ruined by the cheesy-ass keyboard.

Loved Endgame. It was the heaviest album they have done in years. 1,320' (track 4 of Endgame) is one of the best songs I've heard Megadeth do. Head Crusher also is a great slice of Thrash. My favourite album from Megadeth really has to be Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? That ranks up there...

I think I have only used google once or twice to find albums. There are plenty of specific search sites that find albums for you and at least you know what you are getting.

It doesn't sound so much like battles, but you could do worse than get hold of Soundtracks For the Blind by Swans if you're up for something epic and very experimental. Which reminRAB me, I should really explore the rest of their discography sometime soon...
